When I first discovered, to my utter delight, that you could make “chocolate” mousse from my favourite salad ingredient, the delicious avocado, (of all things!) my switch to a (mainly) plant based way of eating was confirmed for good! The realisation that I could be healthy whilst getting my very much needed sweet fix was one of pure revelation.
I have made this dessert for many a dinner party and guests just can’t believe how all of the ingredients are healthy, plant based and dairy-free with no processed sugar – everyone loves it!
INGREDIENTS
(Serves 3-4)
- 1 ripe avocado
- 3 tbsp cacao powder
- 3 tbsp hazelnut butter
- 5 medjool dates
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp oat/almond /any non-dairy milk
METHOD
Simply put all of the ingredients in a powerful food processor and watch until the mousse becomes decadently creamy. Leave to set in the fridge for an hour or so and serve with your favourite toppings!
